CBF-PA, Partners Schedule Tree Plantings In Lancaster, Lebanon Counties

“Fall is in the air, and that means it is tree planting season!,” said Kate Austin, Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA Grassroots Field Specialist.  “Perhaps there's nothing more rewarding—and more important for Bay restoration and the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint—than planting a tree.”
Trees and other plants are one of the best natural tools we have to help clean up our rivers and streams. They improve habitat, keep pollutants out of creeks, increase a stream's ability to purify water, and provide shade and cooler water temperatures critical for aquatic life!
CBF-PA has three great volunteer plantings approaching—all events are free and family friendly!
-- Manor Township Tree Planting, October 4, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. We will be planting more than 950 native trees and shrubs. This event is a partnership with the Lancaster County Conservation District and Manor Township. Please register by emailing Kate Austin at: kaustin@cbf.org.
-- Quittapahilla Wetland Preserve Planting, October 18, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. We will be planting several hundred trees and shrubs throughout the Quittapahilla Creek Wetland Preserve. Wetlands work to protect water quality by filtering sediment and nutrients from water. Please register by emailing Kate Austin at: kaustin@cbf.org.
-- New Holland Tree Planting, November 8, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. We will be planting about 200 trees along Mill Creek in New Holland, PA. This planting will fill in and expand the riparian buffer as part of a stream restoration project. Please register by emailing Kristen Kyler at: klk343@psu.edu.
Thank you for all that you do for Pennsylvania's rivers, streams, and the Chesapeake Bay.  If you have any questions please contact Kate Austin, CBF-PA,  by sending email to: kaustin@cbf.org.
