The House is expected to take final action on House Bill 2235 (Vitali-D-Delaware) today that would impose a 3 year moratorium on Marcellus Shale drilling in State Forest lands.
The House amended the bill yesterday after two hours of debate to reduce the period of the moratorium from 5 to 3 years and made the requirement in the bill to study the impact of drilling much more specific. A second study included in the bill would require the Joint Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to assess community impacts on drilling.
